Procedure for dealing with fines

Fines are imposed by the Football Association and the relevant league association.

Following a breach of the disciplinary code a charge is levied and the club is required to respond. Mitigation can be offered, or an appeal can be lodged.

The outcome is notified to the club and a fine is sometimes imposed.

Generally, the club will pay the fine. In the following circumstances repayment will be sought:

A player, supporter or club representative has misbehaved at a match. The activity is a breach of the FA disciplinary code. The person involved can offer no acceptable explanation or mitigation for their behaviour and/or Respect principles have been breached.

A player, supporter or club representative has acted inappropriately and has breached the FA disciplinary code. The person involved can offer no acceptable explanation or mitigation for their behaviour and/or Respect principles have been breached.
